So… Based off of the plethora of trailers that are floating around the net, this seems to be a good year for movies. I know there’s quite a few that I am looking forward to this year. Some that have already been released, and some that haven’t.

So what’s already came out that I was looking forward to?

 1. Push
 2. Watchmen
 3. Fast & Furious
 4. Wolverine
 5. Fanboys (for some places, I was lucky enough to see a one time showing here in San Antonio)

Off the top of my head, I think that’s it. I’ll get to my general thoughts on those in a bit. But first, what I’m still looking forward to, and why.

 1. Star Trek
 2. Terminator Salvation
 3. Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen
 4. G.I. Joe

So, for the whys.

On Star Trek.

Now, I’m am far from being a trekkie, or really what I would call a trek fan… But damn. That’s a fraken awesome trailer.

Now sure, I find some of the stuff entertaining yeah, and I love how much detail and back story is put into the EU stuff, (EU stands for Expanded Universe, for those of you who aren’t geeks. It might not be the right term though, I just know it is for Star Wars), but I’m not necessarily a fan. If my cousin, who’s what I would classify as a total trekkie, is talking about something trekish, then I’m not gonna say “STFU Ya stupid trekkie!”. One, that’d be rude, and two, we always have interesting debates when they arise.

Now, on the subject of the movie… Looks great in my opinion, and I’ve seen some good reviews on it already spring up. And at the very least, it’ll be a fun, effects fueled, Sylar heavy three story ride. Well, at least in the theaters. Scratch the last part for at home watching, or the viewing at a piece of crap theater. And, it’s been a long time since there was a movie that my mom actually wanted to go see in theaters that wasn’t a chick flick. So, if she goes with us, it’ll be fun to actually have a day as a family.

Now it’s my understanding, that the studio has so much faith in the movie, that they’ve already green lit the sequel.

So will the movie be good? Who knows! Those people who have already watched it… Which I’m not one of, wo I guess I’ll find out come Friday.

Next on the list, Terminator Salvation

This is another great trailer.

So, on this one. I’m a huge fan on of the first terminator movie. The second one, was pretty good, but not great. The third one made me want to rip someones arm off and beat them with it. I mean sure, I kinda enjoyed watching it. Especially the end when the missiles start flying. But lets face it, the govenator lost what acting skills he ever had, shortly after the second terminator movie. (I say that, even though there were some movies that he’s done that I enjoyed, that doesn’t mean that they’re good though… I’m a bill and ted fan, so… Yeah…

Now, on the topic of this one. Even though I’m not a die hard terminator fan, I’m looking forward to this. I love almost any post-apocalyptic movie, so yeah. Even though it has Christian Bail in it. Which I’m not the biggest fan of him either. Even though he has done a lot of movies that I liked. I absolutely loved Equilibrium. But I lost all respect for the man the first time I heard his batman voice…

So this movie, looks like it’ll be another fun movie to see. Lots of explosions, and killer robots fighting humans, and other killer robots who think they’re human…

May 21st… All I have left to say about it…

Next is the new transformers movie.

Ah Michael Bay… If there was an award for most explosions used in a movie, Bay would win it on a yearly basis… Even if he hadn’t made a movie that year… Don’t get me wrong though, he’s great at making explosion movies. And in a general use of the following term, I enjoy his movies. I’m one of the few people I know, who was a fan of the first Transformers movie. This one looks to be another one that I’ll enjoy.

I myself didn’t get to see the first one until the week it was on DVD, but my brother saw it in theaters, and he said it was good on the big screen. And he doesn’t say that about many movies. Hell, he doesn’t even say many movies are good on the tv.

This one however, he and I are going to see at Imax. Mainly, (in the words of my brother), to see a forty foot Megan Fox, in cut off jean shorts… mmmm…

lol

So, what are my thoughts on this one? I know there will be people who say it sucks, but I personally have a feeling that I’m going to like it. I’m a fan of Megan Fox, partially because she’s hot, and I’m also a fan of Shia LaBeouf’s work. Even his work in the new “Indy” film… Which I’m not even going to start on…

So, there’s another that I’m looking forward to… But, We’ll have to wait for June on this one…

And last on this list is G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra.

Hmmm…. Where do I start with this one…

This one is questionable… Will it do justice to the original action figure, comics, and television cartoon series and cartoon movies? I highly doubt it. Will it be a great movie? I highly doubt it. Will it win awards? That one’s a definite no… Will it at least be a fun ride? I’m thinking so, yes…

Now some of the casting is perfect in my opinion. Such as Dennis Quaid as General Hawk, and Ray Park as Snake Eyes. And at least Sienna Miller looks like The Baroness… But then so did Olivia Munn in the g.i. joe comedy skit they did on Attack of the Show…

Some of the other casting is questionable at best… I mean seriously… They cast Marlon Wayans as a white guy, who in the show, wore a sailor outfit… But then he played a white girl before, so yeah… Now don’t get me wrong, I think he’s a good actor. So, I have faith that he’ll be able to pull off the part that they gave him. Now if that part they give him is true to the source material… Well… We’ll see about that.

So, lets recap. Will it be a great movie? It seems like it’ll struggle to be set in the category of a pretty good movie… I’m sure that I’ll still enjoy it though…

My advise though, if you go to see it in the theaters, go into it with low to no expectations… That way, if it sucks, you won’t be disappointed.

We’ll see come August…

That’s it for what I’m looking forward to.

I don’t really have the patience to write reviews on four movies, so I’ll just give basic thoughts on them that actually stuck with me….

Push was first. I liked this movie. Even though it just seemed like a new version of the movie jumper… Dakota Fanning drunk… That scene was hilarious. They did some pretty cool stuff with the few powers that were featured in the movie. And it kept my attention until the end.

Watchmen… Wow… I’ve been a fan of the graphic novel since the first time I read it, way back when. As for the movie. I thought it ‘as good. Not great though. Now the effects side of things is a different story. The effects were phenomenal.

Some of the characters looked as if they stepped right off the pages of the novel, others on the other had reminded me of the rubber nipple batman… You know, the guy who has a different suit of rubber every year or so…

Another thing was that they changed the ending. Which is fine with me, since the ending that was in the novel wasn’t the most cinematic thing to hit the pages of a comic. And the ending that they replaced it with still seemed to fit into context.

So, thoughts? I liked the movie. I’d advise it as a rent for anyone who wouldn’t be offended by a blue glowing naked guy waling around for nearly three hours… Some times, more than one of him… lol

Next was Fast & Furious.

I love the first movie. The second one was alright I guess. I enjoyed watching Tokyo Drift just to make fun of the way that guy talks. And they had some good camera work in there.

As for the new one? I loved it. Thought it was just as good, if not better than the first one. Wasn’t a car movie per say, more of a cop/investigation/revenge movie. And it lives up to that, as well as the name.

Another thing that I thought was cool, which I’m sure not many people caught or will catch, was the inclusion of Han. Han was a character in the third movie, (which other than the name, had nothing to do with the other movies), who mentioned at one point, his days of running with a guy named Toretto, down in the Dominican Republic. Well the new movie apparently takes place before the third one, and they show what he did when he ran with Toretto. He then goes running of to Tokyo, and so on. It’s not really important to the story, or movie, but it ties the third movie into the rest of the series. Which I find cool.

All in all, it was a good flick, and I’d advise it to anyone.

Wolverine.

Not much that I want to say about this one. Other than the fact that they really raked with Deadpool, and butchered him. (literally, and metaphorically). Deadpool, is, in my opinion, the best comic book character ever created. He’s by far my favorite character. And they did some really retarded stuff with, and to him.

Now when he was being played by Ryan Rynolds, before the character became Deadpool, they had him spot on. But then everything went south…

But, for the movie itself, I kinda enjoyed it. It’s by far, not the best movie ever, but nor is it the worst… If you like movies with pointless effects, and characters that are thrown in there just for the sake of having a cool thing to do in a fight, then go watch it.

Fanboys.

I’m gonna make a post for this one, in and of itself some other time. But until then, I’ll say this.

I loved this movie, in every way. For those that don’t know what it’s about, go look it up, and find out yourselves.

I would advise this movie to anyone even the ones that I know would never watch it…

Plus, it has Kristen Bell in a slave Leia outfit. And she was hot before then. lol

So, verdict on this one? Go see it now… Or else… :D

Now, another that’s not on the list is Taken. It’s not on the list, because I saw it a long time ago. I’m not sure why it just now hit the theaters, because It’s been a long while.

This is another great movie. Liam Neeson… Need I say more? Yes? Well ok. He’s a total bad ass in anything he does. And when what he’s doing, is traveling across the world to kill the man who kidnapped his daughter, and get her back. Killing hundreds of baddies, in brutal ways as he’s going. When that’s what he’s doing, you know it’ll make for a good movie experience.

So go see it if you haven’t already.

Long post for so early in this profiles life… 2062 words… Get over it…

Yo.. I’m Jacob.

This is mainly at the consistant, and numerous urgings by Michael Scott that I needed a blog, because I apparently post to much random stuff in the social thread of the TFN fourms…

Whatever.
